Creative Otautahi is a space for locals to host and attend unique experiences and events. This can range from activities like games tournaments to learning experiences like cooking lessons, crafting workshops, and more. You can find everything from unique cultural experiences like Filipino cooking classes to everyday experiences like watercolour painting workshops.

How do I use Creative Otautahi?

Simply browse through our event pages for our three cities to find nearby events or workshops that appeal to you. You can also make an account to manage and view your bookings with us. Once booked, if an experience is online, you'll be given a link and time to connect, otherwise you'll be emailed a booking confirmation which serves as your ticket. Once the experience is over, you’ll be able to review your experience.

I’m interested in becoming a host. Can you tell me more?

Anyone can become a host with us, whether you're looking to share your passion, or just a fun high-paying side gig. The first step is to apply by filling out this form — becoming a host is a quick and easy process, and we’ll let you know what information we need from you along the way. Once our team has signed on as a host, you can start hosting experiences and getting paid!

I’m interested in becoming a venue. What’s next?

You’d be surprised at what spaces can work as a Creative Otautahi partner venue! We’re open to any space that is suitable for gathering people together, from residential homes to industrial or hospitality spaces. The best thing to do is to register your interest here and one of our team will be glad to assist you and answer any questions you might have about the partner venue process.

What types of experiences are on Creative Otautahi?

We list virtually all kinds of experiences, from indoor to outdoor, online to in person, and are virtually unlimited as long as they don't violate our Terms of Service (which is hard to do). Some experiences are seasonal, so be sure to take advantage of the ones you like when you see them! In the end, we want Creative Otautahi to be somewhere you can reliably find unique adventures, whatever that is for you.

How much do Creative Otautahi experiences cost?

Prices for Creative Otautahi experiences can vary. Hosts determine the costs of their own experience, but we do try to keep our costs competitive with other events businesses. Most experiences cost less than what most people would pay for a night out!

Where do the Creative Otautahi experiences take place?

A lot of the time, the experiences will be located at the host’s own home or studio. Sometimes we will use our own partner venues, and sometimes we will work with the host to secure a premium venue in the city. All venue locations are clearly located in the event listing, so you can always be sure of where you need to be to attend. :)

What if I can’t find the kind of experience I’m looking for?

If you can’t find the type of event you’re looking for, you’re always welcome to reach out to our team and host it yourself, or you can drop us a line here and suggest something! We love getting feedback from the community, so we’re very interested in what people want from an experience!

Do you offer private events?

Yes, we do! We can cater to groups of any size, and we can even help secure venues if you don’t already have the perfect space. Our customisable private functions can suit teambuilding/work functions, birthday parties, private celebrations, Hens dos, and more.
